Blog 20 - December 2022

Growth

With pockets full of snow and a smile on my face I am writing the last blog of 2022 from Lithuania, the country where I grew up.

It has been a good year, full of challenges and growth. Every year I choose one word. For this year it was GROWTH.

And I did grow!

No, not the height or the hair. I am already tall like a giraffe and with my hair I've done quite the opposite - I lost it all via experimental hairstyles.

My real growth started within myself as a female artist.

Graduating from Suffolk New College and joining University of Suffolk were my highlights of 2022, but most importantly it helped me see some of the greatest opportunities, including to work as an intern in Laurence Edwards Foundry, but also to dissemble my own prejudices in the art industry and my own personality.

Spending this holiday season back in Lithuania was different this time. I am more aware of the culture differences and why I am the way I am.

Sometimes we are trying to run away from what it is the exact thing that we need to look back and reflect, so that we can move forward.

I am choosing my new word for 2023 - HEALING.

What is your word for New Year?
